Summer Camp 2020 – Covid19 Update

_54A0981Even with new baby goats and 40 new lambs, the farm feels very quiet these days. There have been no field trips, music classes or fiber arts workshops since Covid-19 shelter-in-place orders in March. We have had to pivot so many times that we feel like we are going in circles. The big question we have all been waiting for is… what about camp?Based on CDC regulations and California Camp guidelines, we are sad to say that we cannot run camp with large groups of children this summer. This is our 25th Windrush Farm anniversary and it would have been our 15th year of camp… so canceling camp was a really hard decision we had to make.Even though we cannot have camp this summer, we would like to share the farm safely with families and provide some summer structure during Stay at Home orders. Instead of our planned camp schedule we have come up with some options.

o Visit the Farm for an hour with your child every day you are signed up for camp between 9-12. We will socially distanced as you guide yourself around the pond and parking pastures catching frogs and feeding goats. Farmer Arann will sing songs from a distance and families will be able to take home craft activities like our Windrush Farm Felting Kit. We will have afternoon Zoom calls each day with crafts and activities for home. You are welcome to bring siblings and we will schedule 3 families an hour.

o Transfer your enrollment to next summer and receive a 50% discount on one additional week of camp in 2021.

o Schedule a private farm visit with your immediate family. Enjoy the farm space, have a picnic, catch frogs and Farmer Arann will greet you and send you on your way with a Felting kits.

o Make a donation of your camp tuition to the farm to help us stay a farm education resource.

o Receive a refund

Please send an email with your choice to arannharris@gmail.com. We will reply with more information depending on your decision. If you would like a refund please provide a physical address where we can send you your balance.Thank you for supporting Windrush Farm over the years. We miss you all and hope to share the farm again as soon as it is safe to do so.

Even with new baby goats and 40 new lambs, the farm feels very quiet these days. There have been no field trips, music classes or fiber arts workshops since Covid-19 shelter-in-place orders in March.

We have had to pivot so many times that we feel like we are going in circles. The big question we have all been waiting for is… what about camp?

This class is for spinners wanting to improve their spinning skills and to learn how to expand the range of yarns they are able to create. The class will try out different fibers and the best methods to spin them. We will also talk about breeds of sheep and their fleeces, how to process wool from the fleece by washing and carding wool. Finally, we practice plying two, three, and four different threads for finished plied yarns.
